Days after money and ornaments valued at over Rs 2.25 crore had been discovered lacking from an Axis Bank department in Manipur’s Churachandpur, criminals focused one other bank in Kangpokpi district and looted computer systems and different digital gadgets worth almost Rs 1 crore, officers stated on Friday.

The Kangpokpi department of Manipur State Cooperative Bank, north of Imphal Valley, has been closed since May 4, the police informed PTI including, “The theft was detected three days in the past when officers went to open the bank.”
“Though the money vault was discovered damaged, bank officers had eliminated all the cash from it and the ATM positioned on the bank premises in mid-May as per the directions of the pinnacle workplace,” the official stated.
At least six computer systems, a printer and different digital gadgets are lacking, the official stated, including that an FIR has been lodged at Kangpokpi police station.
On July 10, money and jewelry worth Rs 2.25 crore had been discovered lacking from a department of Axis Bank in Churachandpur.
Officials stated they got here to know concerning the theft when the bank reopened after remaining closed for greater than two months since violence broke out in the state on May 3.
The police stated thieves drilled a gap from the rear facet of the bank and gained entry.
“Rs 1.25-crore money was looted together with gold ornaments estimated to be valued at over Rs 1 crore in addition to a computer,” an official stated.
